Architecture Meets Landscape

Thresholds, courtyards, planting, shade, and views can create a gradual transition between a building and its surroundings. These spaces often become as important to the experience of a project as the rooms themselves, creating moments to pause, move through, gather, or simply look outward.

Landscape can frame architecture, soften its edges, create privacy, and establish a stronger relationship with climate and place. Planting can reinforce an entrance, guide movement through a site, or create a sense of enclosure. At the same time, the architecture can give structure and meaning to the landscape around it through terraces, walls, courtyards, and carefully positioned openings.

When the two are developed together, the project can feel less like a building placed into a site and more like one continuous environment. The landscape becomes part of the architecture, while the architecture gains a deeper connection to its setting, climate, and everyday patterns of use.
